Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas, and enjoyed the day with friends or family, getting in some relaxation, good food and a few fun goodies you were hoping for. Andrea and I were both off with our families enjoying the holiday, but wanted to share some New Years Eve outfit inspiration. Since the new year is coming up in a few days and you know fashion is always on our mind, we thought we might as well put together some outfits to ring in the new year. Whether you are doing a casual night with friends or a night out on the town, we have you covered with ideas for both.
The casual look: I’m all about the super casual look (I have been known to show up for lazy hang outs at people’s houses in yoga pants), but I think even a casual hang out for New Years Eve deserves a little extra effort! I like the idea of taking the look up a notch with leather leggings, but wearing a big, soft sweater to keep the look more casual. The hat is a cute addition that I can only dream of, because I look ridiculous in hats. But if you can pull it off, a hat can really make an outfit look unique! Chunky booties and a big wrap jacket are the perfect finishing touches.
The dressed up look: When I think of New Year’s Eve parties, I think of little black dresses. I love that NYE sometimes provides an opportunity to get all gussied up. My ideal look for a fancy night out would be a little black dress, lots of sparkles (usually in the form of jewelry, but a sparkly dress is fun too!), and a bright red lip.
The casual look: I am obsessed with over-the-knee boots this season. Especially these Stuart Weitzman ones that are everywhere! Add a scarf, leather jacket and jeans you are set to go. So this outfit pretty much captures my go-to cold weather outfit to a T. I even love how the gray boots stand out slightly from normal black boots without being a flashy color. So if it’s a casual house party or chill night out at a dive bar this is what I’ll be wearing!
The dressed up look: I also love sequins for New Years, and although I find any excuse to wear them in daily life, New Years Eve is the perfect time for any gal to pull out her sequins and wear them proud! I love the idea of mixing a dark sequin skirt with plaid for an extra pop and make it more interesting than just a plain tee or solid sweater with the skirt. I absolutely love the blog Atlantic Pacific and always get great ideas for outfits from her. Even though this is an old post, it still is very relevant to this time and might be inspiring my outfit for this year’s parties.
Did we inspire you for your New Years? What will you be wearing to ring in the new year?
