It’s New York Fashion Week again, and this time it’s all about Fall 2016. Even though we are barely sliding into sprint and most of us are still wearing our winter clothes (especially here in the northwest), in New York this week everyone is looking forward to fall. Honestly, fall is my favorite season. Even though I love summer weather, when fall comes around and it’s all about sweaters, jackets, boots and leather, I go weak in the knees. My biggest dream is to someday go and see a show in real life and experience the thrill of Fashion Week, but since I am not able to do that (yet…) I can enjoy the shows from the millions of pictures and images online and on Instagram. Here are some of my favorites, starting with Rachel Zoe. She is one of my biggest fashion icons and never disappoints with her very easy-to-wear pieces that are a throwback to the 60s and 70s. But for her fall collection she is introducing a new era to her clothes, going back to the 1930s with ladylike touches of fringe and lace details. Then she brings it back up to the 90s with oversized jackets and mini skirts that button up the front. You can read more on the collection inspiration here.
My next favorite was the Rebecca Minkoff show. Her line was all about the the cool chick that dresses very rock and roll chic, but with a bohemian nod. There was fringe everywhere and lots of suede, southwestern prints and shearling. I was in LOVE with the suede fringe OTK boots with a peep toe. Where can I get those?? Rebecca Minkoff is known for her fun and cool-girl style, and she always stays true to that look.
Lastly, no fashion week would be complete without taking about Oscar de la Renta. I know I talked about him in my Spring Fashion Week recap here, but he is truly one of my favorites. Year after year the collections capture true ladylike fashion like no other designer does. This collection had a little bit of everything, from gowns to skirt suits, even a leather dress. It was a slight departure from the typical de la Renta, but nevertheless, still completely exquisite.
What are some of your favorite Fashion Week collections? If you had a million dollars what designer piece would you be wearing? A girl can dream right?!
